In 22 October 1966 French archaeologists discovered on the excavation site of a
Greek-Vactrian citabel at Air Khanum Afghanistan a Greek epigram with philosophical maxims.

The epigram was of 3rd century BC and the author was Clearchos of Cyprus a Famous disciple of Aristotle. He Copied them from the perimeter of Oracle of Apollo in Delphi.

The Delphic Maxims were attributed to the Seven Sages of Ancient Greece: Thales of Miletus, Pittacus of Mytilene, Bias of Priene, Solon of Athens, Cleovoulos of Lindos, Periander of Corinth, and Chilon of Sparta.
