Artists and Paintings OK is software that allows art galleries, painting collectors and enthusiasts to manage a photographic archive of their favorite painters and artworks, whether they are masterpieces of art history or creations of more or less famous artists. The program allows you to create archives in which to catalog all the paintings of your choice, for example on the basis of the different subjects represented such as landscapes, still lifes, portraits or self-portraits, nudes, nature and animals, interior painting, abstract art, history and religion, mythology and fairy tales, daily life and so on. The record of each painting can contain a photo of the same work of art. With a few clicks, you will be able to retrieve at any time information on the desired painting from the database and update or print the relative record.

The software allows you to manage an unlimited number of databases in which to store all the data relating to the artworks of your collection. Just enter these data in the records of the chosen catalog and then find them in the search window. Here you will have the opportunity to query the archive according to different criteria and print the summaries on paper.

The Artists Database app is designed to store the biographical information of your favorite painters indicating, of each of them, their artistic and birth names, gender, place and date of birth, nationality, the title of their masterpiece and the art gallery or museum where it is located, other major works, their spouse, children and parents, their date of death and burial place if they are artists of the past, their artistic education, the art movement they are generally associated with, the style and techniques they use most often, the historical period in which they live or have lived, the first and last work they produced, the art galleries where their works are usually exhibited, an evaluation of their artistic skill, and any additional biographical notes.

After saving the record, pressing the Artworks button gives you access to a window where you can list and print all the paintings made by the artist. To add a painting to the artwork list, just press the Add artwork button, fill in the text fields in the window that appears, press Save and then Close. For each work of art you must indicate the title, the year of production, the medium used by the artist, the location where the painting is kept and its dimensions.

To edit a painting in the artwork list, you need to select it with a click, press the Update artwork button, make the desired corrections, additions or deletions in the text fields, press Save and then Close. At the bottom of the list is the total number of artworks stored.

You can export each database to a Microsoft Excel file to be able to share the data with those who do not have the same app. The individual records of the artists accompanied by their photos can be previewed or printed on paper.

The Artwork Collections app allows you to archive in detail all the works of art of your collections. To create a new artwork collection, press the Create new art collection button in the home window, type the name of the new collection in the text box and confirm the operation.

When a new artwork collection is created, the software automatically generates a database file with the extension ART. Each database may contain an unlimited number of paintings, each of which accompanied by detailed information and a photo of the work of art. To identify the new artwork collection without any possibility of error, it is good practice to give it a name as complete as possible using keywords that indicate, for example, the name of the exhibition or art movement which the collection refers to.

After typing the name of the new artwork collection in the appropriate text box, you must confirm the operation by pressing the Apply and close button. At this point, you will return to the home window where you can click the Open existing art collection button to view a selection list containing all the collections created. Just click the name of the artwork collection that you want to edit and press the Open database button.

The Load picture button allows you to insert a photo of the work of art in Jpeg or Bitmap format in the record. This image is automatically scaled to fit the size of the preview box. It is however possible to view the photo in full screen by clicking on the zoom icon. The image visible in the box can be saved to disk or deleted at any time using the appropriate buttons.

The Slide show button shows in sequence, at six-second intervals and in full screen, all the pictures of the paintings in the database. Once the last picture in the database has been viewed, the slide show starts from the beginning. To exit slide show mode, simply click anywhere on the screen.

By using the Attach files button it is possible to attach documents of any kind to the record of each work of art (for example, a critical review of the painting or a photo of the art gallery where the artwork is kept).

The software allows you to carry out advanced searches in the database even using a partial search key, that is, indicating one or more consecutive words contained in any text field. For each search you can refer to one or more fields at the same time. For example, you can obtain a list of all the paintings that have the same subject or those belonging to the same owner.

The Sold box must be checked when you archive the record of a work of art that has been sold. If you click the icon of the hand holding a coin, you will get a list of all the unsold artworks.

Access to the software is protected by a user-customizable password that can be changed as often as desired. For the first access to the software, you must use the keyword “password” (written without the quotation marks). If you forget your password, send an e-mail to the author of the software at [email protected] using the sentence “Forgot login password for Artists and Paintings OK” as a subject line. In response to your e-mail, you will receive instructions to reset your password.
