Measuring the thickness of skin folds, calipometry, is a widespread method for ascertaining the amount of subcutaneous fat. Skinfold can be measured using a special tool called a caliper. Caliper (tool) can be purchased in just for a few €/$.
Caliper application allows to calculate body fat both in percentage and in kilograms or pounds by simply entering the thickness of skin folds measured with a caliper. The app will show you exactly where the skinnfolds should be measured.
There are 4 most common methods:
- 3-point Jackson / Pollock
- 4-point National Health Center of America (NHCA)
- 7-point Jackson / Pollock
- 9-point Parillo
The app calculates also BMI.
