Description

Compressor Capacity Performance -UWP is for Windows 10 devices and app evaluates different key performance indices in a single stage Industrial Air Compressors. Compressed Air system is one of the energy intensive utility often ignored once it is installed and running. It is also one of the least energy efficient as it works between loading and unloading pressure settings. Hence app uses an average pressure ratio for its general performance analysis. Further, app also helps in running quick tests to estimate both FAD and leakage in a given compressed air systems in order to assess the potential energy savings.

Ambient Properties:
Ambient conditions such as atmospheric pressure due to altitude, temperature, and humidity got considerable impact on compressed air system performance. The app computes the atmospheric pressure for any given altitude. Data for some of the higher altitude (> 1000m) cities are also provided for convenience.

Compressor Specification Data:
A typical compressor specification data sheet is show in the screen shot. FAD, motor horsepower and rpm data are the minimum requirement based on manufacturers data sheet. Additional data pertaining to reciprocating cylinder helps to determine the swept volume as well as range for FAD for general verification. Volumetric efficiency is given as function of cylinder clearance at TDC and pressure ratio. Clearance in compressors are generally in the range of 4% to 12% of total swept volume. Thus it also helps to determine actual free air delivery in a compressor. Users can work with both SI or USCS unit system.

Result summary:
Home screen displays the key performance summary for the given compressor operating spec as shown in the screen shots. Additional information such as cooler load, moisture level, isothermal efficiency etc. are provided in a separate summary sheet. Users can review all the result summary and save the compressor data with specific title for future monitoring and review.

FAD/Leakage Testing
As the compressor put more hours in service, the natural wear and tear could bring down the performance of any compressor. Therefore, it is often necessary to run tests to determine its capacity and also any excess leakage in the compressed air system. This app helps to run quick tests to estimate the losses and concern for any further investigation.
