It consists of three main parts: (1) Navbar for this App, (2) Sidenav for choosing a media and the text global settings for the chosen media's MDP. (3) The main window for performing the chosen media with its MDP.
How to pick and keep a media? (1) Input an URL or pick a media file. (2) The media will show in the main window. If your screen is large enough, it'll show you a sub-window for the list of pieces of MDP on the right-hand side. (3) Click the '+' button will create a new piece of MDP. (4) That piece of MDP will be denoted by a colored circle button and a colored item in the list. (5)Click the button on the top-left will keep the link with a related MDP in this App.
How to use the control panel of MDP? (1)Once you're in one piece of MDP, clicking the button to toggle the position of this transparent panel. (2) You can change the start or end time of current piece of MDP by dragging on the buttons beside the "play" button, or typing the number into the pop-up of the numbers beside the sub-timeline directly. (3) Clicking on the lower part of this transparent panel will show you a text-area for you to input your own subtitle for current piece of MDP. Toggle the button to ask this App to utter it.
(1) Swipe horizontally one of the kept links of media will remove that link from the list of kept media. (2) Swipe vertically one of the colored circle will remove that piece of MDP from the list of MDP. Remember that, the speed of your swiping should be fast enough. It doesn't want to be deleted accidentally.
After selecting a piece of MDP, you can 1. record your own voice, 2. compare your voice with that piece of the media; you can repeat them again and again or play them simultaneously, 3. if you want, you can save your voice.

Description

The main purpose of this App does not want to modify the media or the YouTube video you want to study from but want to tap some extra function sections onto the media so that the user can repeat those sections.
The functions of this App are:
1. You can easily add, remove or change the time period of each dot paper section, even they are covered by each other.
2. You can easily switch between the sections and back to the original media (hide the media dot paper).
3. Each section can have its own voice speed and volume.
4. If the user provides the subtitle for a section, that subtitle can be synthesized and uttered.
5. The subtitle can be uttered at a different speed, pitch, volume, and utterer.
6. Are you YouTuber? Do you want to write subtitles at right time for your video and using speech synthesis to utter these subtitles to make the voice-over of your video? This App can help you.
7. You also can import other people’s media dot paper!
8. You can record your own voice to compare with the speech in the original MDP segment as the concept of [echo method] designed by Prof. Karen Steffen Chung.

  • Set your desired time periods of a media so that you can repeat them
  • Keep the links of media with your desired time periods and I call them Media Dot Paper (MDP)
  • You can set the volume and pace of each segment of the media
  • You can provide each time period a subtitle.
  • You can use the speech synthesizer to synthesize those subtitles with different speaker, volume and pace.
  • The setting of time period of each piece of MDP can be set by dragging instead of typing in.
  • You can play the media with the uttering of your subtitles.
  • Customize your own study materials based on your schedule for your students by the "Daily Sample" button.
