Migraine is a pulsating or throbbing headache that is mostly confined to one side of the head caused by functional changes in the trigeminal nerve system a major pain pathway, and, due to imbalances in brain chemicals including serotonin that regulate pain signals in this pathway.

This presentation describes migraine, its types, causes and symptoms, biochemical events that lead to onset of headache, highlighting the methods of treatment – monotherapy and combinational therapy.
