Description
Monster Heart Medic is an adventure game where you must help diagnose a friendly monster named Ragnar and guide him on his path to a healthier life. Through animations, simulations, achievements, and arcade games, you will learn about cardiovascular conditions and what steps can be taken to keep you and your monster healthy. All of the health recommendations that players encounter in the game come from established sources, including the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We do not collect or share personal information about any player, whether child or adult, nor do we allow any third-party advertising. Monster Heart Medic was created with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Science Education Partnership Award program under award number R25 OD 010543.
This game, designed for youth ages 10-13, explores the cardiovascular system and how it is affected by healthy living habits. Players are led through an interactive narrative about a monster named Ragnar in which they learn about: (1) What a healthy cardiovascular system does in the human body, (2) possible problems with the cardiovascular system, including information on symptoms, conditions, tests, and treatments, and
(3) how healthy eating and exercise habits can help keep the cardiovascular system healthy. Through this exploration with Ragnar we hope players will be encouraged to become more aware of their own habits and those of their families and make healthy choices in the future
