POE is a distraction free writing app built by writers for writers. It has a minimalist, focussed editor with lots of powerful features just a click away, out of sight.

Type in bold, italics, strikethrough, lists, headers and more. Everything is saved as markdown, in a universally accessible .md or .txt file that any other app can open.

WRITING STATS

See at a glance how many words, sentences, and characters are in your document, or how many you’ve written since you opened the app

WORDCOUNT GOALS

Set yourself a target - for example, 500 words - and Poe will let you know when you’ve reached that goal with a non-intrusive toast notification, or an on-screen progress bar.

WRITING TIMER

Got a limited amount of time to write? Set yourself an alarm to let you know when it’s time to stop writing.

AUTOSAVE

Never lose work. Poe saves right back to the file you opened. It also keeps any unsaved work in temp files. If you close the app and forget to save, Poe resurrects your work and prompts you to save it this time. This also protects against unexpected events like power loss. You can now also change how often Poe autosaves.

CUSTOM THEMES

Poe comes with lots of preset themes, but you can also change the colors, fonts, text-size and spacing to whatever you prefer.

FOCUS MODE

Blur everything but the current line you’re working on.

Poe has a list of handy writing resources which can be accessed from within the app.

Open a named project with multiple files, see combined word counts, set project goals and quickly switch between documents with a handy sidebar. These projects are all stored in the same open format that poe uses, simple folders and .txt/.md files which any other app can open.

See a monthly calendar which tracks how often you write and what your word counts are.

TEXT-TO-SPEECH (PRO)

Hear your words read back to you. Great for finding grammar or punctuation mistakes, and finding if the beat of a sentence is off.
