Rec Diver Air Management

Description

Analyzes dive parameters and reports potential problem areas. For the recreational diver (e.g., limited to NDL dives at dive depths no deeper than 130 feet or 40 meters) dive time is typically limited by two main factors:

  • No-decompression limits due to nitrogen narcosis, and
  • Insufficient air in dive tank to safely ascend and perform the requisite safety stop

Divers typically have a target exercise in mind, such as exploring a reef or a shipwreck or a cave (if so certified and experienced). Having sufficient air to complete the target exercise depends on the air consumption rate at the target depth and the amount used for ascending, descending, the safety stop, and managing buoyancy.

The Rec Diver Air Management tool evaluates dive parameters and identifies potential air availability problems by calculating accumulated air consumption at the various stages of the dive and comparing projected consumed air with available air and the safety reserve - and reporting inconsistencies relative to required air versus available air.
