I seem to feel the mountain panting, to see the puffs of steam moving under the peaks, to see the workers intent on sawing in the woods and loading the carts of precious timber. At Pian del Monte on one side of the forest I see, in my dream, a locomotive going out towards Novellano and I wonder: which road will it take? Of the great work that was a hundred years ago there remains very little, whether we are in Ligonchio, that we pass through Febbio up to Quara, whether we go to Fontanaluccia towards Gazzano. And it is a mystery that today intrigues and stimulates the imagination of many, who, knowing the history, want to discover every detail.
