The first local cable TV channel in Maceió, TV Mar was founded on March 22, 2004. The channel was created with the objective of offering Alagoans a differentiated, eclectic programming, focused on the community and public interest.

The founder of TV Mar, Sidrack Ferreira, says that the initial challenge for the implementation of the channel was the consolidation of the TV Mar brand, since, at the time, cable TV in Maceió was incipient.

Initially, the channel was broadcast by the operator BIG TV, which only covered some neighborhoods on the seafront, such as Pajuçara and Trapiche. In 2008, BIG TV was acquired by NET cables, a company with national operations. According to Sidrack, NET cables brought improvements to TV Mar. As a result, coverage was expanded and, today, covering a large part of the city, reaching neighborhoods such as Benedito Bentes and reaching a diverse audience.

In December 2014, TV Mar was incorporated into the Arnon de Mello Organization and went through the second most important moment for the channel, undergoing a fundamental modernization process. It gained new and extensive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment, with the proposal to become the channel with the greatest local content. “TV Mar became much stronger, able to acquire new technologies and with the elevation of the programming schedule”, completed Sidrack.

Today, it transmits both analog and digital signals.
