Word MixMatch is fun literacy game for EYF, KS1 and KS2 children (approx ages 4-9).

It has a simple interface based on the childhood favourite game of missmatched body parts – head:body:legs.

In this literacy version we have sentences in 3 parts, and swiping backwards or forwards can change each part of the sentence making something funny, sensible, thought provoking or plain nonsense.

There are 10 sets of sentences of increasing difficulty. These sets are created from the Fry site reading words targeted at early literacy. These Fry words are split into 10 levels and they correspond exactly to the levels in Word MixMatch. Word MixMatch does not include all the Fry words – there are 100 per level. In an effort to keep the interface simple and consistent it makes 7 sentences out of each set, these are rainbow coloured so the child knows the “correct” sentence when they find it.

The game is to guess the right sentences. You guess by swiping upwards when you think you have the correct sentence. If you get it right the blobs change colour and you get a well done message.
