About BTVideoJoiner

This app is not compatible with Windows 10 S (S Mode).

A time-saving, pain taker app that joins camera-splitted video files into one single file. You may wonder why is that important and what’s the issue with the splitted video files. Camcorders, in general, are splitting big video files in smaller files to prevent file corruption and due to FAT32 file system per-file size limitation. For example Sony camcorders are splitting big videos in 2GB blocks (~10 minutes long), Panasonic ones in 4GB segments (~22 minutes long).

What problems are raised by splitted video files?

  • audio gaps between the video segments

  • bulky video projects having a lot more files

  • multi-camera edits become a nightmare because the splitted files are overlapping and can’t be synced with audio and other cameras with software like RedGiant PluralEyes, Woowave DreamSync, Syncalia, QT Sync, Tentacle Sync, Entangle for Avid.

BTVideoJoiner joins the splitted video segments togheter in 3 easy steps:

  • select a sample file (the biggest file that your camera produces, the split sample)

  • select a target folder containing the files to be joined (subfolders are automatically included) OR select manually the files to be joined

  • check the options and hit “Start”
You can “Stop” the joining process at any moment, and by clicking “Cancel / Reset” the app is reinitialized and ready to start another joining process.

By checking the “Move originals” option the original splitted video files are moved to an “Originals” folder created near the current folder. This way BTVideoJoiner cleans your folders automatically and makes the import into editing software much more easier, resulting in cleaner projects.

The app does binary joining, not video encoding. If you want to encode splitted video files togheter the gaps will remain in the final file and it will take much longer to render, compared to binary joining.

At the bottom of app’s window are 2 buttons. Hit the “Contact” button for bug reports, suggestions and for reporting how the app behaves with your camera files. If you like the app press the “Donate” button and buy me a Snickers and some Skittles.

Tested with .MTS video files, AVCHD codec.

Tested cameras:
Sony HXR-MC2000, HXR-MC2500, HDR-CX570, HDR-CX730, FDR-AX53, HXR-NX100
