About Cell Towers

This app displays cell towers from FCC databases (current as of April 2017) for public cell towers. There are over 240,000 listed.

There are two methods of displaying the towers: By State and County or by within a given radius (from 1 to 30) in kilometers of where you double-tap the map.

A few counties have an extremely large number of towers. Thus, there may be a need to limit how many towers may be displayed in those cases since unless you have a lot of computing resources, the App might freeze. In such possible cases, you will be warned and instructed how to proceed.

When the pushpins are displayed, a tap on a pin (near the bottom of the pin) will provide information about the tower. You may have to zoom in to have the tap be registered. What a tap will reveal is all the licensees using that tower–and not which carriers are there.

As with any large database, there will be towers for which the information is not correct, most noticeably when a tower is in an obviously incorrect county or state – or occasionally out in the ocean. Or if there is no tower visible at the location. Additionally, some towers may be so close together that their pushpins are essentially one on top the other; hence, the occasional count of pins will be greater than what you see.

For Help or information, tap the three dots in the lower right corner on the bottom application bar.

This app collects no information about the user and uses no cookies. It does need to have an Internet connection to use the maps.
