The ChooseYourFood App allows users to filter, search, and sort foods by description, category, or nutrient content. The ChooseYourFood App allows users to organize food choices into groups and customize the amounts of each food item for recipes and entire meals.

The ChooseYourFood App reads the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service. FoodData Central, SR Legacy database which has been downloaded from fdc.nal.usda.gov, parsed, and displayed for your convenience. The ChooseYourFood App does not access the internet…the SR Legacy database is already installed with the app. The ChooseYourFood App is using the SR Legacy database because it is the final result of over 150 years of scientific research by the USDA and will not be changed as of April 2018. Other databases are available on the USDA web site; however, they are subject to change.

The ChooseYourFood App supports over 40 different languages; however, the USDA data itself is only in USA English so appologies for the lack of language support for the data. Custom Product Design And Development has asked the USDA to provide translations of the data. The ChooseYourFood App allows a new SR Legacy database to be opened and parsed for display in the event that the USDA does provide a translation on their website which users can download to their system so that The ChooseYourFood App can access it. The ChooseYourFood App allows the selection of any of the available languages regardless of your locale.

The ChooseYourFood App calculates the nutrients based on the selected amount and calculates the total for the recipe or meal. The ChooseYourFood App automatically saves the selections, so that your recipes and meals can grow as you use the app.
