Crypto Messenger is an old ‘Technology Demonstrator’ from back around 2016 or so. It is not very user friendly and each OS’s version has its’ own quirks…That being said feel free to give it a try :)
Basic theory is each user maintains their own Certificate Authority (CA) and sign’s Certificate Signing Requests (CSR’s) from other users. The signed certificates are then used to envelope CMS (Cryptographic Message Syntax) data between 2 users.
The back-end web services act as a dead-drop (kinda like a PO Box in the post office). The only information stored in the Database is a destination and an encrypted blob that can only be viewed by the intended recipient of the message.
