OPTIMUM SOLID SLAB THICKNESS

For current building loads (less than 8kN / m2 including permanent loads other than the self-weight of the slab), the optimum thickness of a solid slab (minimum cost of concrete + steel) is determined by allowable deflection conditions. The optimum thickness is of the order of 10% greater than the minimum thickness.
