It might sound like a scary movie title, but it is true – the world is currently experiencing the sixth mass extinction event; the highest rate of species loss since the dinosaurs went extinct over 65 million years ago. There are now 41,415 species on the IUCN Red List, and 16,306 of them are endangered species threatened with extinction. These numbers are staggering, and they continue to grow. Indeed, it could be a scary future!
While it is impossible to cover everything, Sixth Mass Extinction focuses on the top ten endangered species on each continent. Examining the plight of each species, threats to their survival and suggestions for how you can help.
